Scottish Connections
"A Place for Scottish Americans in the Pacific Northwest"
Our mission at Scottish Connections is to provide a comprehensive website to relay information about our Scottish heritage.  It is a place you can go to for information on all things Scottish in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S.  Whether you are looking for an event near you or you'd like to contribute your own auto-biography on our Who's Who page, this website is for you!

Harry McAlister
Director of Scottish Connections
Harry developed the Scottish Directory with the initial publication of a Washington State Scottish Directory over 25 years ago.  Eventually, it became the Scottish Directory for the Pacific Northwest with the addition of the States of Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.

Harry was born and raised in Scotland, the son of a long line of boat builders in Dumbarton.  He emigrated first to Canada then to the United States (Maine, eventually settling in Seattle).  He continues to nurture and share his love of Scotland with his five children/spouses and ten grandchildren.
Diane McAlister
Co-Director of Scottish Connections
Diane has been working with Harry on "All Things Scottish" for the past 20 years, which includes the Directory and other activities related to the Scottish community in the Pacific Northwest: Tartan Day Society and relationships between Scottish Americans and Scots in Scotland.

When not assisting Harry with Scottish matters, Diane enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading voraciously, working on this and that, as well as traveling hither and yon!
Tammy Soto
"Web Lassie"
Tammy helps Harry and Diane McAlister manage the Scottish Connections website and also to keep the "Scottish Directory" up to date.
In addition to her work with Scottish Connections she serves the Scottish community as the Oregon State Commissioner for Clan Donald.
Tammy works as an applications analyst for a major healthcare organization on the west coast.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family.  She has been married to her high school sweatheart for 40 years now and they have 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters who are the center of their lives.  She enjoys action and fantasy movies and reading books in the same genre. Diana Gabaldon is her favorite author (Outlander Rocks!).
